Every other drawing lesson is based on these fundamental core concepts. Don’t skip this!
You will find out...
In this 3-DVD set, you’ll start with how to create an accurate layout — and how to train yourself to see. Then, follow along as Darrel shows you how to take the skills you learned in “Core Concepts and Exercises” to draw an entire portrait from start to finish.
This kit contains all materials you need for starting with the first lessons in the Core Concepts and Exercises lessons.
This kit contains all materials that are used in the "How to Draw a Portrait" series.
Here's the new Blick® Studio 5-Pencil Method pencil set. This set contains one each of the Blick Studio 4H, 2H, HB, 2B, and 4B pencils.
This is most-used eraser in the 5-Pencil Method. You may want to have several on hand. If you buy from your local art store, be sure to get the large size as the size is important for getting the proper contact with the paper.
This is the eraser bag that Darrel explained in the tutorial video on erasers.
After experimenting with many papers, Darrel found Strathmore 300 series to be the right texture for his technique.
But that wasn’t the only goal. It was equally important to find a paper that was very affordable for just about anyone. So, even though there are many other papers that are much more expensive, the Strathmore 300 series is Darrel’s choice for quality and price.
US$6.95 — 9" x 12" (List $8.40)
US$9.95 — 11" x 14" (List $11.30)
This ruler is used as a straight-edge in Darrel’s primary layout method. Any clear straight-edge that’s about 18" will work. This should be an easy item to find at most art or office supply stores, but if you need one, here’s an option.
While you’re getting a ruler, be sure you also have a divider tool, as the ruler and divider work hand-in-hand in Darrel’s approach to laying out a drawing.
PLEASE NOTE: This item requires a 120 volt power source. Using without the correct voltage will ruin this sharpener so it is not usable. International customers, please take note of this as we can no longer refund or replace this item due to use with an incorrect power source.
